Privacy policy
Fyren is a small company and we collect as little as we can. This page explains what we collect when you visit fyren.app, contact us or reply to one of our ads, and what you can ask us to do with it.
Who we are
Fyren is run by Ard Boer Consultancy, which is responsible for the personal data described here. For anything about your data, email us.
Visiting the website
fyren.app sets no cookies and does not use Google Analytics or advertising trackers.
-
Visitor statistics. We count visits with Umami, an open-source tool that
runs on our own server. It records the page you open, the site you came from, any campaign
tags in the link (such as
utm_source=linkedin), your browser, device type, screen size, language and country. It does not store your IP address or set cookies, so it cannot recognise you on a later visit. - Hosting. The site is hosted by GitHub Pages (GitHub, Inc.). Like any web server, GitHub receives your IP address to deliver the page and may keep it briefly in security logs.
- Fonts. The site loads its fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google and Google receives your IP address.
We use these to run the site and understand which pages are useful, which is our legitimate interest.
The contact form
When you send the form we receive your name, email address, what you are interested in, your current app provider if you choose one, your message, and the campaign tags of the link you arrived through. The form is processed for us by Formspree, Inc. in the United States, which forwards it to us by email.
We use these details only to reply to you and, if you want, to talk about working together. That is a step you asked for before any contract, and our legitimate interest in answering enquiries. We do not add you to a mailing list.
Booking a demo
The “Book your demo” button opens a booking page run for us by Proton AG in Switzerland, the same company that provides our email. When you book, Proton receives your name, email address and the time you chose, places the appointment in our calendar and sends you a calendar invite with a Proton Meet video link. We use these details only to hold the demo with you. Switzerland is recognised by the European Commission as providing adequate data protection.
LinkedIn ads and lead forms
We advertise on LinkedIn. If you fill in one of our LinkedIn lead forms, LinkedIn passes us the details you submit: usually your name, email address, company, job title and any answers you give, together with the ad you responded to. We use them in the same way as the contact form. LinkedIn’s own handling of your data is covered by the LinkedIn privacy policy.
To choose who sees our ads, we give LinkedIn a list of publishing companies. That list contains company names and websites only, no personal data.
Business contacts from public sources
To find publishers who might benefit from Fyren, we collect business information from public sources such as company websites, app store listings, trade association member lists and event programmes. For some companies this includes the name, role and work contact details of people in relevant positions.
We do this out of a legitimate interest in offering our services to the publishing industry, and we only use work details that are already public. If we contact you, we tell you where we found your details. You can ask us at any time to stop contacting you and to delete them, and we will.
Who else sees your data
Only the services named above: GitHub, Google Fonts, Formspree and LinkedIn, and Proton, which provides our email and the demo booking page. We never sell personal data or share it with anyone else, unless the law requires us to.
GitHub, Google, Formspree and LinkedIn may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where they do, they rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries and lead details: up to two years after our last contact, unless we start working together.
- Client contacts: for as long as we work together, and afterwards only as long as the law requires for our records.
- Business contacts from public sources: deleted as soon as you ask, and in any case when they are no longer relevant.
- Visitor statistics: kept as anonymous totals.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, limit how we use it, or give you a copy. You can object at any time to us using it on the basis of legitimate interest, including for contacting you about our services. Email us and we will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the data protection authority in your country. In the Netherlands that is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
Changes
If we change how we handle personal data, we update this page and the date at the top.
